I grew up in Atlanta Georgia with my mom and step-dad, one brother and a house full of pets. I am the owner of the practice and its primary vet. I always wanted to be a vet since I was a little girl rehabilitating tiny birds that fell from their nest and putting pretend casts on my teddy bears. I am throughly fulfilled by relieving the suffering of animals and honored to be able to do so as a livelihood. I enjoy horses and specifically dressage although I have evented, foxhunted and played polo. My favorite dog breeds tend to be brachycephalic (like pugs and bulldogs) but I have also owned and loved dachschunds, Danes, and heelers. I currently share my home (and my heart!) with a pug, a clyde cross and my small child :)

Our Mission Statement.
From a presentation given to a local business owners group in the summer of 2013 by Dr Caldwell
Katie recently moved to Oregon from Boulder, CO, and is thrilled to be part of the awesome team at
Happy Valley Veterinary Hospital! She comes from a background in veterinary specialty & emergency
facility management, and has spent the past few years working at a 24-hour veterinary clinic in Boulder.
She is excited to learn more about role of general practice in helping to prevent serious health problems
in pets, and enriching the lives of pets and their families. An avid pet lover and rescuer, Katie has 4
rescue kitties, one of which only has 3 legs and 3 teeth, and is the sweetest cat you’ll ever meet. Even
though Katie holds a degree in English Literature, she has found her passion in veterinary medicine, and
loves the joy and companionship animals bring to their families.
In her spare time, Katie loves to read, swim, travel, check out new restaurants, and spend time enjoying
the great outdoors with her boyfriend. She is so excited to explore more of the beautiful Pacific
Northwest, and she can’t wait to meet you and your pet at your next appointment!
